Pick a Card: Your Weekly Reading (6/7/14)

Posted by Donnaleigh on June 7, 2014 at 9:50 PM

I've taken out cards from 3 favorite decks today.

Which card is calling to you for a reading?

I've also thrown in a rune card with each one for good fortune.

Pick a card, and let's see what card awaits you this week.

TIP: You may want to hover your hand over each one to see which one pulls you. Do you feel a pull? Or a warm spot?  Maybe you have a pendulum you can use. The card you pick will embody something energetic around you for the next week.

Once you choose a card and feel confident with your choice,

Isabel Snail Arcana, Temperance

Rune: Thurisaz (thorn, giant)

This is a week that will focus on balance and maintaining balance during a period that may seem ominous. There are times when most of what we consider to be issues of overwhelm are really just giants we create in our minds. With a mindset of calm, the same situation can be experienced with a more peaceful energy. It's sometimes shocking to recognize how much we can torture ourselves with worry when truly this is nothing more than abuse we impose on ourselves: giants in our minds, mere mice in reality.

This week....try to stay in the Ohm Zone. If things seem to get you all in a tizzy, ask yourself, "Is this really all I'm making it out to be? Or am I being a Drama Mama? Be aware of the extra hype we create for ourselves. Then note how to bring yourself back to center. How can you go with the flow? How can you let a little of the unknown to feel safe and okay instead of trying to control everything in your mind? After all, does the worry really change anything? It's like they say: "Worry is like a rocking chair.  You can rock all you want, but it isn't going to get you anywhere."  Is it okay not to be in control of everything? Will the world still turn?

This is a good week to focus on what *does* bring you back to your Ohm Zone. Is it meditation? Is it a good walk? Exercise? Time with music? A book? The ocean? The woods? Putting your bare feet in the grass? Try to allow yourself some "time of your ohm." Good self care starts with consciousness of the mind and an action to restore your body/mind/situation. Is it time to dip your feet in the water? Maybe even soaking those toes in a warm, fizzy bubbly bath? Are you due for a massage? What gentle actions can you perform while you're letting go of controlling the universe and just allowing it to be?

This week you have permission to gift yourself with some gentle self-care to take you out of the grind and out of twisted mind. Time to go with the flow. As they say, "Let it be."

Isabel Snail here is on the pitcher of water, but she's not in the water. She's watching it as an observer. This is a good lesson to take things from a distance this week. You don't have to become involved in everything. You don't have to participate in every argument you're invited to. You don't have to volunteer for every opportunity that knocks on your door.  Instead, you can watch from a distance (even when you're right next to it) and let the time flow happen. Watch and learn. Sometimes staying uninvolved simplifies our lives tremendously.  Life is full of wars. It's time to realize that we don't have to become participants in many of them, if not most of them.

And it's okay to say "no." Really.

Walking the middle ground this week won't be perfect every time, but if you're aware of what you're doing, you can always stop and think, "What's between the extremes here that I'm missing? What's the shade of gray between the black and the white?" This one observation, this one revelation, will have the potential to bring an epiphany to you that may change your mindset altogether.

Where does the balance lie? Just knowing the in-between answer sometimes takes our mind to a wiser place. And then the big things can be seen with a broader eye. Oh, you wise one, you.

"We've just learned how to balance ourselves a little better so that we're happier way more of the time than not, and, you know, being happy is a radical and desirable act if you ask me."

Anthony Kiedis

If you chose Card 2

Hezicos Tarot, 3 of Cups

Rune: Berkana (birth, birch,feminine energy)

Are you ready to initiate a little fun? It may be time to start a little something.

I heard an expression once that said, "When we say ' I'm bored,' what we're really saying is, 'I'm boring'."  Don't wait for the fun to come to you....instead, BE the party. It's your turn to initiate something frivolous and spontaneous. You have the power to create whatever energy you want for your day. Or you can just let yourself get sucked into whatever shizzle passes your way. Which choice would you rather have? It may be time for you to stir a little fun into your day.

Whether it's a luncheon out with friends or workmates, a night out on the town to the movies or dancing, or just a bike ride with buddies, this is your chance to create a memory. What great friend haven't you called lately? No more "should haves" or "might do." It's time to "HAVE" and "DO." It's your turn to have fun, but don't sit around waiting for it. Manifest, baby!

If you're in a relationship, this may be a great week for a secret date. Sweep your partner away to an unknown destination, and let the fun be on you!

If you were ever lost in the woods and needed to start a fire, do you know the only wood that will burn when wet? The Berkana rune here gives us our hint. The birch tree! So this rune asks us to start a fire when everything is the energy that lifts the blah. This fertile rune of birth asks you to start a little something fun (3 of Cups). And with the 3 frolicking friends in this card, perhaps you shouldn't go it alone. Your fun potential is pregnant with posse-bilities.

If you chose Card 3

Housewives Tarot, 8 of Wands

Rune: Laguz (water, intuition, flow)

Ahhhhhhgh! Fast-moving crazy energy flies around us sometimes and we just want to scream, "Stop the train!" While you may find yourself swept away by a current this week, the Laguz rune says, "Hey, don't push the river!"  Go with the flow, Joe. Consider yourself a blood cell in an artery, getting pushed by the energetic heartbeat center....pushed...pushed... moving forward in pulses. Energy will be around you, pushing you along like a person flowing in a moving crowd. If the blood cell tries to resist the current, it's futile. And why try? Time keeps on ticking, ticking, ticking....into the future. The forward, toward-the-future motion right now is inevitable. You can't row upstream when the current's flowing downstream. Pull in the oars and go for the ride. You'll get further and wonder why you resisted. It's best to follow the speed this week because it works in your favor.

Expect high energy this week. When multiple projects flash by around you, grab one and ride its current with skill like a surfer rides the curves of a wave: with great attention, skill, and energy. There is not likely just a single rogue wave. They come in pulses and another is right behind it. There may be multiple waves around you this week, all in great forward motion, but you can stay in control if you keep the concentration focused and steady your feet on the surfboard. The sharks have nothing on you this're a cruisin' dude, flying on the surface of that current like a pro. And look at you go!

Things may move quickly this week, and time may seem to accelerate because of the speed-energy. Soon, the tide will shift, and then you'll get to dock the surf board and take a break. When you do, you'll be amazed at the distance you traveled in one week just by tackling all the projects around you with deft and speed.

At night, any caffeinated-like energy is often offset by a good, hot steamy shower to wash away energy that might follow you to bed. The Laguz rune is tuning you into water energy this week, so take plenty of water with you, put your feet in water, and maybe make an extra cup of tea as a nourishing reward for yourself. And if it rains....enjoy the fragrance and life this natural element brings to us to slow us down even on our most busy of days.

Oh, and pssst....this week, watch your speed when driving. Like you have to slow down when it rains to maintain safe driving, this week, go just a wee bit slower on the road. It may end up keeping you safe. And don't text and drive. When wrangling your task at a time, cowboy.

"One must strike the right balance between speed and quality."

Clare Short

Here's wishing you a productive week!
