Tarot Shamanism

Tarot Town is a new tarot social network sponsored by Tarot Professionals that is offering exciting new courses to those who love tarot. One of the first courses offered included one called The Tarot Shaman, which you can find on the right of THIS page once you get a (free) account on Tarot Town. This course is offered to all Townsfolk and Citizens, and gave me quite an exciting ride!

The course is offered in a unique Tarosophy® way of using Tarot called 'Gated Spreads' where each Gate (spread) must be entered, actioned/responded in real life, and digested before the next gate is visited. One of the Gates includes the following activity. I invite you to visit Tarot Town to learn more.

In the course, we are asked to choose  any deck and separate the cards that contain any sort of animal. I chose Kat Black's Golden Tarot. I expected to pull about a dozen cards with animals, but was shocked to find that a whopping 48 of the 78 cards contained cards with critters in them! That's nearly a full deck of playing cards!

I then shuffled these 48 cards.

We were then asked to put the cards face-down into a shape (a circle was suggested) and then to use a crystal or other item to scan the cards and feel which one you were drawn to. I used a favorite quartz, and I ended up feeling myself pulled to a certain card. We were asked to put the card aside without looking at it.  (AAK!) Here you can see the quartz on the card I chose.  This activity is called "The Summoning."

Next, we were asked to spend the day thinking about the feel of the spirit in that card. We are asked to see if we can feel it calling us or summoning us during our daily activities.  At the end of the day, we are allowed to peek and make a comparison. I am terrible at reading inanimate objects like this, so I prepared for the worst, but expected to have a good time experiencing this and learning about my power animal.

So the card was separated from the deck, and I managed not to look at it for about 10 hours. My instincts felt things like "butterfly and transformation," or jaguar/cheetah/lion, something exotic and fierce. And those were the only two energies I seemed to want to pull through. When I peeked at the card, however, a much bigger surprise awaited me.

The  7 of Coins card was revealed, and the only animal in this card took my breath away. How did I not notice this when I was doling out the cards, sorting all the ones with animals in them?  In this card I saw a perfect likeness of my Maltese dog, the dog I refer to as my "Kindred Spirit." The dog who has transformed my life. The dog that follows me from room to room, and who we laugh has the "Napoleon Complex," because at 10 pounds, he is the smallest of our four dogs, but the one with the biggest "I AM KING"  attitude.

The message here was profound. Yes, he is like a transformational butterfly, and he is like that fierce jaguar. We often joke about him being the King of our Jungle...so the irony was not lost to me.

I never saw my dog in this card in the hundreds of readings I have done with this beautiful deck, but now, I won't be able to miss it. For my Spirit Animal is truly....my Kindred Spirit.

Look and see if you can see any resemblance?  (My dog has 3 legs, and the differences end there). He is the same right down to the up-turned tail and trim of his face.

Come on over to www.Tarot-Town.com and join us for more details on this course and others that are also being offered. I would love to hear what your Spirit Animal is and how it relates to your life story.

Here's wishing you a tarot-filled week!
